Divecha Centre for Climate Change, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, invites applications for the following posts, purely on a contract basis. The appointment is initially for one year but extendable yearly upon satisfactory performance.
Number of Positions: 01 (one) - Emoluments: Rs.85,000/- + HRA (Increment of Rs.5,000/- for every additional year of experience with a maximum ceiling of four such revisions).
Essential Qualification: PhD + 8 years Post PhD Experience.
Age Limit (years): Below 55 years as of the last date of receipt of applications.
Desirable: PhD in the natural sciences, coastal policy, or other field related to the coastal environment; experience in the fields of coastal hazards, resilience, or climate adaptation. Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, initiative and problem-solving capability and attention to detail. Ability to work well in a team environment. Managing simultaneous projects with multiple deadlines.
Job Responsibilities: 50% Research, analysis and policy brief; 25% Organizing events and Science - Policy outreach activities; 25% Global secretariat task. Role of the candidate will be “Resilience Specialist Coast; Solution pathways expert - Community Risks from dual Crisis of Sea-level Rise and Sinking Coastal”.
Number of Positions: 03 (Three) – 1st position (i) Food Security, 2nd position (ii) Sustainable Communities and 3rd position (iii) Coastal Resilience.
Emoluments: Rs.54,000/- + HRA (Increment of Rs.5,000/- for every additional year of experience with a maximum ceiling of four such revisions).
Essential Qualification: PhD + 2 years Post PhD Experience
Age Limit (years): Below 45 years as of the last date of receipt of applications.
Desirable:
Doctoral Degree with extensive domain experience. Agricultural Economist or Researcher with experience in the field of Agriculture, South Asia Economics, Food Consumption and Production, Food Technology, Food Security, Agriculture Policy and Climate Change in South Asia Region. Experience with Stakeholder Communities and International Organizations in the field of Environment, Climate Change, Sustainability, Economics, Science/Social Science and Policy linkages.

Essential Qualification:
Desirable: Experience in relevant regional planning fields such as Urban Planning/ Settlement Geography, Development Studies/Urban Studies/ Economics/ Sociology/ Public Administration or Management. Experience in research and analytical methods, including literature reviews, statistical and spatial analysis. Knowledge of working with statistical tools and spatial software such as GIS, R, Stata and Excel; Good writing and communication skills. Experience of working with transdisciplinary teams at the intersection of research and policy, and engaging with stakeholders, development organizations, officials.
Job Responsibilities: 70%: Research, analysis and literature review; 15%: Organizing events and outreach activities; 15%: Global secretariat task. Role of the candidate will be “Science Policy Analyst: Sustainable Land use/Sustainable and Communities”.
